WAYFINDING SIGNAGE ON CENTRAL AVENUE!
Over the 2015/16 school year, Los Angeles Walks and National Health Foundation worked with Jefferson High students in NHF's Health Academy to design and develop a pilot pedestrian wayfinding signage system, Walk This Way/Caminale.
These signs give information on walking and biking times between different destinations, show connectivity between neighborhoods, celebrate community history and assets and change perceptions that many places are too far away to walk. After a student-led, https://pocketoption.com.ph/download neighborhood destinations, vote on sign designs and finalize sign locations, 11 wayfinding signs were installed on Central Avenue between 33rd and 45th Streets on March 18, 2016!
The students would like to thank the many community partners who supported and helped in this effort: Mayor Eric Garcetti's Great Streets program, Councilmember Curren D. Price, Jr. and all the staff at The New 9th, LADOT, Jefferson High School, The Youth Envisioned Streets Team (NHF, A Place Called Home, CRCD, LACBC, and LA Walks), This South Central Neighborhood Council, IOBY, The Central Avenue Business Improvement District, Community Health Councils, TRUST South LA, and many others who have helped along the way.
THANK YOU!
Los Angeles Walks, NHF, and the Jefferson High Health Academy Team
