UNDER WAY!

Community Safety Ambassadors

Working to enhance business and patron environment along Central Avenue is a top priority of the CAHD.  Safety Ambassador contractor selection process will be completed in July 2016.

The Safety Ambassadors will patrol the District on a daily basis, greet patrons and distribute brochures about businesses and events, helping patrons find the businesses and services, coordinate security efforts with property owners and the LAPD and monitor the security cameras that will be strategically installed along Central Avenue.

Once on board, the Safety Ambassadors will personally visit each business on Central Avenue to introduce themselves and to hear concerns that need to be addressed.

Branding Program

Please visit the website at www.CentralAvenueHistoricDistrict.org and the Facebook page – Central Avenue Historic District.  Please share the pages with your family, friends and customers.  We are excited to announce that we have hundreds of new website visitors each month and the goal is to provide them with information to encourage them to shop on Central Avenue and support our businesses.

As part of the branding strategy, CAHD will work with each business to create free Yelp, Trip Advisor, Facebook and Google pages as well as Gmail accounts!  We plan to cluster market the businesses (i.e. Bakeries, Eateries etc.) and to create a business directory handout map and online searchable map.  CAHD is also partnering with several artist and community based organizations to create wayfinding signage projects that promote the assets of the district.  Stay tuned…

Parking Demand Management

Please share information about available parking on existing sites and vacant lots that could possibly be included in a public parking plan for Central Avenue.  CAHD will also work with the City to assess locations for diagonal parking into order to increase availability of spaces for patrons.

BID Management Services

The CAHD Board of Directors is managing the implementation of the District programs with the support of the formation consultant, Urban Design Center, now serving as the interim BID manager.  Since the District’s in January 2016 the Board launched the district website, executed a management agreement with the Los Angeles City Clerk, contracted with CRCD for Clean Streets Services, set-up the operating bank accounts, issued the 1st and 2nd quarter newsletters and negotiated a pending $175,000 grant from the REEF Development project.  Work elements under development include the cluster marketing strategy, Central Avenue Jazz Festival Pop-up Retail tent, business directory, wayfinding signage and business development strategy.
